It is well worth waiting for, in most instances, to get the other guy to ask you to play. That puts him at a huge disadvantage, whether he knows it or not. It says tacitly that he thinks he can beat you.
Once you get him to hustle you to play, you hit him with the […]

Wow, team trick shots, with hand-picked guys. What rocket scientist came up with that? Of course it’s in exactly the same vein as Matt Braun’s 8 man joke of an event and other assorted wrestling like formats. Invitationals suck, period. No quality player should ever be left out of things, like the many who didn’t […]

I’ve been asked to relate some Jack Cooney stories. For starters Jack is darkly brilliant and probably the best “lemon man” ( a hustler who with great skill disguises his ability) who ever lived.
Jack, “San Diego Dave”, James Christopher , Jeff Sparks and I were all in the navy at about the same time, the very […]

Grady and Matt have worked their butts off trying to find a place for the pool room. After dealing with realtors (who must be rich since they don’t work very hard helping us), owners (with notions of pool rooms fronting drugs and prostitution), and the religious zealots (who think beer is the direct link to […]

This was posted on AZBilliards but I thought you might enjoy reading it:
Jack Stamper, better known as Jack Webb because he looked exactly like Jack Webb the actor. Jack moved to LA from Kansas City in the mid sixties. He played around the action spots in Socal, mostly in the Tropicana Bowl. Nobody ever knew […]
